Developers say they're one step closer to addressing safety concerns in Moncks Corner
MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCIV) — People living in Foxbank Plantation, and parents of Foxbank Elementary students are calling for a traffic light at the intersection of Highway 52 and Foxbank Plantation Boulevard. Read more here...
Imagine crossing a busy street without the benefit of a stoplight. Traffic lights are critical to an area's safety, and their absence can result in a life-threatening accident. This is why residents of Foxbank Plantation want one built at the crossroads of Highway 52 and Foxbank Plantation Boulevard. Parents of Foxbank Elementary pupils are also concerned about their children's safety when crossing the street. According to Doug Polen, Moncks Corner's Community Development Director, designs for the stoplight are already being drawn up. They're trying to figure out exactly where to install it along the current electrical lines in the ground, which is critical.
Biggin Church in Moncks Corner, SC
When you visit the Biggin Church Ruins, you'll be greeted by an old but attractive view. According to history, the church, which was founded around 1711, was burned down two times by forest fire and once by the British. The last one was in the 19th century and only parts of the walls are all that remains since they are made of bricks. A cemetery can also be found near the ruins. This place is off the beaten path, and you'll need to pay attention to the road signs to find it. One entrance is on the main road, and the other is on the side, with a larger gate. It's a fantastic historic sight to see and, of course, photograph.
